As a Staff Data Engineer at ABOUT YOU, you will take on a leadership role within the Reporting and Data Science team. Your extensive experience will be crucial in guiding the team through complex challenges, including the migration from legacy systems to a new data platform. You will be responsible for setting the technical direction, ensuring best practices, and building a data infrastructure that meets the needs of various stakeholders across the organization.

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of high-performance, scalable, and well-documented data pipelines.
• Build and maintain automated monitoring and alerting systems to ensure data integrity and quickly address anomalies.
• Oversee the migration of data infrastructure from legacy systems, ensuring seamless transition and minimal downtime.
• Develop and maintain a platform and framework that serves as the technical foundation for other data teams.
• Establish and enforce data engineering standards, and lead the sharing of knowledge and best practices across the organization.
• Drive continuous improvement in data infrastructure, proactively identifying and implementing enhancements.

Who you are:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a MINT-related field or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines, with a proven track record of success.
• Deep expertise in data orchestration and processing tools like Apache Airflow, Google Cloud Dataflow, or Metaflow.
• Advanced SQL skills, particularly in handling big data environments.
• Strong software engineering background with a focus on Python development.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Experience with queuing and messaging systems, with a basic understanding of PHP for better system integration.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to drive projects independently and manage cross-functional teams.
• In-depth knowledge of BigQuery, CI/CD tools, and containerization technologies like Docker is highly desirable.
• Pragmatic problem solver with a strong focus on delivering results.
